These were the first Subwoofers that i ever had, not knowing much about Car Audio back then - i had to trust what i was told by the Audio Shop (not mentioning who). They werent too interested in giving great advice as they were very busy but he did mention how popular the item had been with previous customers.
I got these beauties home (two of) and like a little kid with a new toy, started unpacking to check them out. The first thing i noticed was the weight, very heavy for something that i thought shouldnt be too heavy (not knowing too much about car audio again :-)) They were very well built with a huge rubber outer which looked like it was capable of a huge excursion. The 1200RMS output i thought would probably be a very hopeful guess but after testing on a few amps (boston audio, hifonics and hertz) it seemed to hold that power quite well.
The bass on these subs were very punchy and hard hitting and didnt struggle to hit the low frequencies. I were running these out of a dual custom made 12" ported box and it worked wonders. After changing over to a sealed box i was slightly disappointed with the response... These are not subs to be put into a sealed box! They are designed for punch and bass, not quality! While they could sound great in the sealed box at low volumes - when it was turned up they just didnt sound good, simple as that! They were obviously designed purely for the SPL side of things, after pure bass and volume.
I put them back into the ported box and desided to get it tested, running off a 4000w legacy amp (cant remember the exact product but was probably running about 1500w RMS at a guess) i had some guys come over and test them, i was pretty pleased with the results, hitting 138 dBs.
The conclusion would be to recommend these to anyone who is interested in pure SPL and running them from a ported box purely for craxy bass is a MUST. If you are looking for more quality audio then dont bother!

I would rate these 8/10 in a ported box
5/10 in a sealed box.
Anyone else had these wanna comment??
